Bedroom Progress

I joked yesterday that our bedroom is the most expensive/luxurious room in our home as of now. This is the only room which has an AC. It also has our source of entertainment, our TV. Me and Mridul debated about where the TV should be. I initially suggested that it should be in the living room but I am so glad that we finally went Mridul's way.

TV + Living Room (Hot Chennai weather)          =          Bad Bad idea

TV + Bedroom(Cosy AC room)                          =          Awesome idea

This is how we went about furnishing our bed
  1. Live saver a.k.a Air conditioner We had sleepless nights. It was hot so we had to leave our windows open for ventilation which lead to mosquito attack.Close the windows and we would die of a heat stroke( I know I am exaggerating here ) Point being that it was really uncomfortable. We noticed both of us were getting crankier by the day.So we decided!! Mosquito net would have definitely been cheaper instead we bought an AC. Our life saver. Good bye sleepless nights. FYI: The blood thirty mosquitoes wont leave us alone.In-spite of all the  closed windows, they somehow found their way in. So we had to do what we had to do..get a mosquito net :)
  2. Comfy Mattress: Our next purchase was the mattress. I had no idea a good branded mattress is so costly. We did our research to find out the different types of mattress, whats good for your back whats not good for your back etc etc and we dot throughly confused. The general perception in India is that a coir mattress/ hard mattress is good for your back. We did a little bit of research and found that one's sleeping posture determines the kind of mattress one should choose.A hard mattress is good for ones who sleep on their back. Both me and Mridul we sleep on our tummy. So a soft mattress is ideal for us. We both anyways wanted a soft cosy mattress so we were pleased that the article favored our choice. We went for Sleepwell Resitec Air with Reticool technology( supposedly the layers promote air circulation keeping the mattress cool)It has a five year warranty. So far we are happy with our mattress
  3. Entertainment Guru a.k.a TV: We were surviving by watching sitcoms on our laptop but we were missing out on live matches. We wanted to buy a TV but there was also a credit crunch. We  found few EMI schemes but they weren't any good. Then we came across a Full HD 32 inch videocon LCD priced at Rs 21000 at Ezone. When we enquired about the payment options, they had a 0% interest rate EMI scheme on HDFC credit card. There goes my credit card running to the payment desk. Had gone window shopping and came home with a 32inch LCD TV. What a day!
  4. Rajini a.k.a Our bed: cdcdc For almost a month we kept looking for a bed we liked that was also within our budget but we had no luck.As mentioned earlier we had also decided that we will not purchase anything unless we both absolutely love it. So we kept looking. Finally we found Rajini(So was it called) at Ekbote. It has very clean lines as we wanted. Its without any storage.
  5. Side Table and TV Stand: Once we had our bed we had to buy the TV stand for better viewing angle as mentioned here We just bought one side table because we didn't have the space to fit two. However I am on the look out a side table for my side of the bed. I found one at Westside but I would like to search a little more before i make the final decision.

To remind you guys how it looked when it was empty

Well this is how our bedroom looks at the moment...

 From two other angles

The red and black curtains were stitched by me. The bedcover was a gift from my mom. I think it really goes well with the dark curtains.
Do you guys like the colour combination?
